Why I Hate The Poor

Why I Hate The Poor – is it time I Took A look at myself?

A few times people have seen my views to empower people, as a hatred of people. So I am forced to take stock and have a look at myself and my perhaps flawed thinking. Here I try to understand: Why I hate the poor.

Because I think all citizens, especially the poorer members of society having near half of their income taken forcibly from them by the state via income tax and VAT, I am called ‘crazy’. I think people spend their own money best. Now how this equates to ‘Why do you hate the poor?’ I can’t quite grasp.

Regardless of what the law says, I trust individuals with their own money more than proven incompetents.

When I spend your money, I’m less inclined to get value, I may do my best but ultimately if I make a wrong decision, it costs me nothing. So I could continue making bad decisions with your money, again and again, all the while my own pocket not being affected. Add on top of this the fact that as your representative, say a politician, you are also paying me to make these decisions that turn out to be destructive to your quality of life. You are paying me a salary that I have arrived at, without your approval. I am deciding what to spend your money on and how much you pay me. That, is taxation. I hold all people in higher esteem than legislation of the State. Regardless of what the law says, I trust individuals with their own money more than proven incompetents. Wacky I know!

Perhaps I’m mad, but I am of the view that poor people keeping more of their own money will benefit them. Why not let adults spend their money however they choose? The poorest in society are the very ones who need every penny they can get their hands on. They are most inclined to get the best value with any services they need to use. Poorer workers as it is earn the least in society, yet they pay income tax on this small wage, then they pay VAT on every item they buy, to feed their family or heat their homes. How is this evolved and civilised when government needs a large cut of income from the least well off in society?

My suggestion is to leave people to keep the money they earn, instantly they will be 30% at least better off, and leave them free to spend that money how they choose, on whatever healthcare they wish for or whatever water provider they like best. Of course some will waste their income, but that is their free choice. I don’t believe in policing how people spend their money. If state services are so good, people will gladly pay to use them. If they are not good enough consumers will look to competitive providers for better value. The poorest people in society are trapped, many do not want handouts, many just want a helping hand, a means so they can get on their own feet to a better quality of life. People struggling want to feel empowered to make their own decisions, there is nothing empowering about taking part of their income. Of course help is and will always be offered by communities and charity, rather than relying on state help which has proven disastrous. Why I Hate The Poor

Why I Hate The Poor – Now wadaya know, turns out I don’t hate the poor

As I believe strongly in treating all people fairly and equally I would like to see society steer clear of dividing black from white, Left from Right, rich from poor. Any favours for any party results in resentment and jealousy. I don’t have the mind of Noam Chomsky so I cannot earn $30,000 to $60,000 to speak for an hour, but more power to him for accumulating wealth of $2m as of 2006. I have no desire to demand half or more of his earnings, so rich people like him I’m happy to see, like those less well off earn and spend their money as they see fit.

One step to a better quality of life, along with creating a fairer society by treating people equally, is not to take money from one group, and treat some differently to others.

interesting idea……but we are where we are?? How do we get state funding in the current system if no taxes?

Blandina: I assume you mean ‘…state funding in the current system (for state services)’. Simply make all payments voluntary. If the service is good value and reliable, people will happily pay for it, just as in the private sector, when a service is bad people stop using it and go elsewhere. Have a look at other posts on this site that cover the Free Market they should give you an idea of the types of options we should have running parallel to state services.

I agree with this post. Taxation is immoral because it is done under threat of violence. Coercion is a wrong under Natural Law. If it was voluntary from the ground up then I’d have no problem with it. Also don’t forget sales tax meaning that every single thing that we buy is more expensive than it should be and cuts into people’s wealth more than most realise.
